Can it really be the middle of July?

Jackson is beautiful in the summer.  Well, Jackson is beautiful any time really.  I love to hear all about where people come from when they are visiting the shop.  It's like traveling the country through a knitters eyes.  I'm from northern Michigan and miss the Great Lakes but the cool Jackson evenings trump the longing to hear the waves.  My papa said it was in the 90's the other day and it cooled off the the mid 80's that night.  Yikes!  Just sounds miserable.

I'm about to solar dye a few skeins of  yarn out on the shops front porch.  It's been warm but not as sunny as I need it to be.  Today's colors are Kiwi, Iris, Intense Blue and Aqua Marine.  I use wide mouth mason jars and the yarn turns out looking kettle dyed with the monochromatic variegation.  Pretty and goes fast! In one batch I had dyed the basic red and it turned out more pinkish with hues of deep coral. I fell in love with it so I just finished knitting http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/diamond-rib-lace-shrug this to go with the dress I'm wearing to my little brother's (in-law) wedding next month.  I just need to block it and done!  It turned out stunning.

We received a shipment of yarn from Mountain Meadow Wool out of Buffalo WY,  last week.  I ordered some of their Dubois fingering weight and put them in kits with a pattern rightly named Grand Teton Shawl.

Things here at the shop are going great. Our weekly knitting socials (every Thursday 5:30-7:30) are a big hit this summer with knitters from all over the country coming to sit and knit for a spell.  I love it!  I love hearing about their local knit shops, different yarns and seeing all the great projects.  Super inspiring.

Fourth of July!

Greetings Knit on Pearlers!

We are in a bit of a heat wave here in Jackson but the mountains sure are beautiful this time of year.  The one thing I always look forward to are the cool evenings and my many knitting projects.

Knit on Pearl will be open 12-3 on Thursday, July 4th and we are canceling our knitting social that evening.  Get out there and celebrate Independence Day Jackson style.  Stay safe, wear sunscreen and don't forget to knit in public!
